Honda Cars India has announced a price hike on its products that is scheduled to come into effect from April 2017 onwards. The price hike is up to a maximum of Rs 10,000. The recently-launched WR-V is the only car unaffected by this move. Importantly, this move makes the Honda City even costlier than before. The Honda City's current prices start from Rs 8.49 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 13.52 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The Honda City is the costliest car in its segment. In comparison, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz prices start from Rs 7.72 lakh and go all the way to Rs 9.96 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Hyundai Verna costs Rs 7.93 lakh to Rs 13.15 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). With the price increase, the City will cost even more. Honda recently gave the City a mid-life refresh, which gave it a new face and new features to go with the same. Mechanically, the car remained the same.

The City is one of Honda's most popular nameplates in India. But other nameplates have not been spared from the price increase either. The Amaze, Brio, Jazz, BR-V, CR-V and Accord Hybrid have become dearer too. Honda had recently announced its intentions of going premium and this price increase is definitely a part of that strategy. Whether this price increase strategy will be followed by a refresh of the model lineup is something we can say nothing about.
Are you in favour of Honda's strategy of increasing the prices of its cars in India?
